WELCOME TO FIRST YEAR POTION!
In the first year you will learn about some basic ingredients to make potion and recognize some basic potion and their uses.
The first year potion course is separated into 3 lessons, you will have homework after each lesson. You can find the homework on this page just under each lesson.
When you turn in your homework, it will take about 1 day for Professor Snape and grade and comment it because he has to teach in Hogwart and can only grade Homework at night. House points will be given for your homework to your house. Grade and comments to be send through Email (Owls are not available for online courses)

INTRODUCTION TO POTION
Potion are liquid that are produce by a number of different ingredients and with some magic. Muggles cannot make most of the potion even if they have the ingredients because most potions need a wave of your wand to finish it off.
SAFETY RULES FOR USING & MAKING POTION
Now, before we start learning to make any potion, it is important to know that you should not use potion randomly like drinks, some of the potions, such as the death potion are poisonous and permanent. So before using any potion you should always make sure that it is checked by an overage wizards/witches that it is safe to use.
It is important to label the potion after finishing it, mislabelled or unlabelled potion might be misused and threaten lives.

If your potion came out either looking weird or smelling weird, please do not drink it or store it. Use the vanishing spell (Evanesco) to get rid of it to avoid other people using it or spreading the smell.
MAKING OF POTIONS
There's a basic procedure for making all the potions (some potions are exception of course)
1. Prepare the needed pot
2. Put all the liquid ingredients in IN ORDER (If the ingredients are not putted in in order, the result might be wrong)
3. stir it using your wand
4. cut all the dry ingredients into its needed form (Usually to small pieces)
5. Put dry ingredients in IN ORDER
6. Stir the potion with your wand
7. Cast the needed to spell for the potion
8. Put the potion inside a cylinder (ONLY IF IT SUCCEED) and label it CLEARLY
